Lori Marie Dowd, 42, passed away unexpectedly on April 17th, 2023. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Lori was born on November 22, 1980, in Oceanside, New York. She is survived by her father Kenneth Dowd, mother Barbara Dowd, her fiancé Michael Butler, her brother Matthew Dowd, and his wife Jamie Dowd, her two nephews Patrick Dowd and William Dowd. Lori graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) in 2003 with her BSN, from there she went onto Emory University and completed her Master’s and became a Nurse Practitioner. Lori had a fulfilling and successful career working in emergency rooms across the country.
Lori touched so many lives in such a profound way. Her giving and bubbly personality made you always want to be in her presence. She loved her fur baby Charlie more than anything. Our Lori was a beautiful person inside and out with a smile that could light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for her friends, family, and the patients she took care of. She was so kind and passionate. She made an impact on so many lives.
A few months before her death Lori shared on her social media the following post . . . “I want to know that when I die, I have jumped from the highest sky in sky diving. I have scaled the most dangerous mountains, I have swam the most treacherous seas and have seen the most breathtaking views. I have no fear of death, never have. I just want to live life fully and unabashedly, please give it to me freely.” We know that Lori is at peace because she lived her life without fear of death holding her back from doing the things she loved. We love you, we will miss you every day, until we meet again watch over us our sweet angel.
