January 21, 1926 — August 5, 2017

Lorraine I. Van Mill (nee: Lawson) of St. Louis, MO, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the age of 91.  Loving wife of the late Clifford K. Van Mill; beloved daughter of the late Leroy and Ophelia Lawson; devoted mother of David (Sandy) Van Mill, Karen (Phil) Stangler, Sandra (Jim) Hilke, and Bonnie (Dan) Hoffman; cherished grandmother of Stefani (Shane) Smith, Gordon (Angelica) Stangler, Bridget (Mike) Young, Megan Hoffman, Brian Hoffman, Kelsey (Corey) Bennett, and Kenton Hilke; treasured great-grandmother of Lucas, Bailey, and Cody Smith, Kenneth Stangler, and Alexander Young; dearest sister of Ronald (The Late Betty Ann) Lawson; and dear sister-in-law of Jerry (Margo) Van Mill, and Karl (Debbie) Van Mill. Lorraine is preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy (Bernice) Lawson and Gilbert Lawson, and sister-in-law, LaVerne (Troy) Dooley.

Lorraine was full of life and was always on the go. She was a member of the local PTA, often served as a Homeroom Mom at her childrens’ school.  She enjoyed volunteering at the election polls. Her hidden talents included playing the organ and piano, and she was a member of “The Kitchen Band,” where she played kazoo, spoons, and a sifter full of rice.  Lorraine was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and never missed a game.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, sewing, or watching her favorite television shows, which included Columbo, Matlock, Wheel of Fortune, and America’s Funniest Videos.  She was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
