Lou Jean Duffy-Stonebraker-Nixon, born September 6, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri and passed away on April 22, 2016 after losing her battle to cancer.
Louis Robert and Mildred Alice (Branson) Duffy’s family came together when they joined the union. Their children James Robert and Nola Lee became the first 2 of 5 children in this family. Lou (the love child) was the first born of this union. Lou was adventurous and always up to something. Her mischievous side led her cohorts into hot water, she was never the one who got into trouble. Lou made fast friends and was loyal to those she loved.
She was a 1961 Graduate of St. Charles High School and immediately started her journey in the food industry. She was employed by Station Duquet, Pio’s, John Henry, Harley Hotel, and provided school cafeteria service for 30+ years in the schools of St. Charles School District (Lincoln, Benton, Coverdell, and Monroe).
Lou married James Bradford Stonebraker in 1962 and had her first daughter Karan Janel Stonebraker Smith, she also welcomed in her life Kevin Lee Stonebraker (her step-son). In 1972 Lou and Bobby Nixon were married and brought Thomas Fellers (her step-son) into the circle where Brandy Lynn Nixon made the family complete.
Lou was baptized in the water in 1954 at First Baptist Church, she was born again in 1984 at Grace Church and later began worshipping at St. Louis Family Church in 1998 with her sister Val and Brother-in-law Mark.
Lou is survived by Karan (daughter) and Dale Smith, Brandy Nixon (daughter) and Eric Sneider, and step-son Thomas Fellers. Her sister Valerie (Mark) Knoerle, Brothers Jimmy and Brad (Glenda) Duffy, Grandchildren Maranda Smith, Amanda Roberts, and Nick Fellers, brother-in-law Richard Fulgham, and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Robert and Mildred Alice Duffy, her Grandparents and Great-Grandparents, her sister Nola Lee Fulgham, her grandson Christopher Fellers and her children’s father’s James Stonebraker and Bobby Nixon, and sister-in-law Sue Duffy.
