Louis F. “Lou” Newbold

February 19, 1922 — December 2, 2012

Louis Francis Newbold February 19, 1922 – December 2, 2012 Devoted husband of the late Gloria A. Newbold (nee Croghan). Preceded in death by his father, William L. Newbold and his mother, Mary Ida (Gulde) Newbold, and five brothers, Robert, William, James, George (Father Thomas More) and John (Cree) Newbold. Loving father of Michael (Barbara) Newbold, Christopher (Margaret) Newbold, Mary Lou (Tom) Metzger, Peter (Lois) Newbold, Stephen (Kellie) Newbold, Mark (Susan) Newbold. Grandfather of 11 and Great Grandfather of 2. Mr. Newbold served his country in WWII as a B-24 Bomber pilot in the Pacific theatre. He attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a Master's Degree in 1949. He was a public high school educator, football and baseball coach in the South Bend, Indiana School District in the 1950's and 1960's and retired after serving as a high school principal for Wentzville High School in the 1970's and Montgomery City High School in the 1980's. He was a member of the Wentzville American Legion Post 323 and a Fourth Degree member of the St. Patrick's Knights of Columbus Council #2345.
