Lucas Edward Hesselbach

Lucas Edward Hesselbach, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the age of five months at home surrounded by his parents and brother. Beloved son of Jennifer and, Kurt Hesselbach; dearest brother of Jacob Hesselbach; cherished grandson of Craig and Joan Weiss, Edward Hesselbach, Gerard and Barbara Henke, and Kathy Dickerhoff; treasured great-grandson of Mary Louise Vitale; Lucas is also survived by many loving family members.
Lucas Edward Hesselbach was born June 8, 2018 and on November 7th, 2018 God called our son to join him in heaven. Before Lucas was born we learned any and every planning we could do didn't mean anything to him, everything was according to his plan, just like how God's plan is unexpected. Everything from finding out we were expecting hours after putting a down payment on a puppy, to finding out about his heart defect on Jacob's birthday. Even with having a scheduled c-section, he decided to come 3 weeks early when we had nothing prepared! It was all on his schedule and no one else's. This is what we called the Lucas life.
Waking up today, knowing he would have been 5 months old, we were so close to another milestone that we all take so granted. The pain today will be great as we try to put stuff together, but we are so grateful to have the support from family and friends and even from people we don’t even know. I knew this day would come and since his first surgery I realized I would have to write something like this. I just did not realize it would be this fast and so unexpected.
At this time, we ask for a little space while we plan how and when to celebrate his life and all I ask is to take your little ones and hold them close because in minutes things can change.
