With heavy hearts, we announce that Lynne Elizabeth Wright, aged 82, passed peacefully at her home in St Peters, MO on March 19, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Lynne was born on January 16, 1942, in Alice, TX, to Leroy and Edith Taylor. She and her three siblings spent their early years in Texas, but frequently relocated as their family, tied to the military, moved between various bases. In 1958 Lynne met her former husband, Charles Wright, with whom she had her two daughters, Tamie and Debbie Wright. The family eventually settled in St Louis, MO with some time in Texas and Iowa. Lynne spent a few years in Atlanta, GA, but retired back to St Louis in 2023.
Lynne's love of Elvis Presley started early in life and persisted throughout. She couldn't resist a beanie baby, Disney movie, Anne Geddes photo, or anything purple. She made sure she had one of everything for each of grand & great-grandchildren and never missed a birthday. Her car could be recognized from a distance with its collection of stickers, stuffies and decoration, and her neighbors all knew her name. She was a devoted caregiver, not only to her grandchildren but also to those fortunate enough to consider her their bonus grandma.
Lynne was an icon of love, sass, and resilience. Her care extended beyond blood ties to embrace all who knew her. With a deeply compassionate heart, she devoted so much of her time to nurturing and guiding her grandchildren, their friends, and anyone she encountered, leaving a memorable mark on their lives. And while Lynne was not without complexity, she lived a deeply meaningful life rich in connections and conviction. Lynne was also the memory holder of her family, both present and more importantly of the past. She weaved together the tapestry of our shared history and of our passed family's history with her varied and detailed stories and anecdotes. With her passes a legacy of her family's memories.
Lynne was a unique soul in this world and she will be greatly missed by her two daughters and their partners, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and endless bonus grandchildren, extended family, neighbors, and friends. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through life's journey with love, compassion, and an Elvis Presley tune here and there.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in memory of Lynne to her long-time charity of choice MADD.
