Marcia Ann Brunner

September 8, 1946 — December 18, 2024

O'Fallon, Missouri

On Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, Marci Brunner wife of the late Eric Brunner for over 30 years left this place to be with him, her parents, siblings, & the Lord. She leaves behind her children Matthew (and Tonja) Meester & Bethany (and Rodney) Scott, along with a small gaggle of grandkids, Tate, Zane, Desiree, Luke, Alyssa, & Allie.

It was always about the relationship and building up of others for Marci, the journey or destination didn’t matter as much to her. The creation of “Mimi day” was the foundation for many of her adventures with her grandchildren. Each Mimi day, from the Science Center to the zoo to build-a-bear to Cahokia Mounds was custom designed for the kiddo she was taking out. She shared this same enthusiasm with her husband and their friends Marcia & Elmer, traveling throughout Missouri, Alaska and Europe. So committed to the adventures that she underwent a double knee replacement in time to enjoy a riverboat cruise with her husband “The Bru” in Eastern Europe.

Marci possessed a sparkling personality that was reflected in her equally vibrant wardrobe. Always wanting to coax smiles out of friends and strangers alike, she would make sure all accessories matched her colorful hats and brilliant smile. Her friends especially enjoyed her wearing the outfits that they considered a favorite. Thoughtful of her friendships, she would change her outfit between meetings with different groups, often selecting the outfit that each friend particularly liked.

Marci was dedicated to our Lord through her faith and in service to Him through many projects at Assumption Catholic Church in O’Fallon, MO. She had a particularly strong presence in the PSR program helping young followers learn about and dedicate their lives to Christ. Several years ago she realized the sweet fruits of her faith by having her grandson, Luke start attending and participating with her at church. Her favorite time of the week was getting dressed up with Luke on Sundays preparing to attend mass. After mass, they would always grab breakfast and discuss the day's homily.

Marci was a lifelong learner who earned her Master of Education and retired from the Frances Howell School District after a long career teaching middle school math. Her time in the classroom was primarily spent on a sixth-grade team teaching the wide-eyed incoming students that math could be fun, not scary. Marci’s creativity was on full display through the multitude of ways she would apply different learning tools to help personalize learning math for every student. One of the favorite projects she led was redesigning the Parent Teacher Night for her school. The new program proved so meaningful to students, parents, and teachers that the district adopted it for all middle schools, where it remains in effect today.

Memorials may be made to PSR at Assumption Catholic Church in Marci Brunner’s name
