Margaret Elizabeth Hartnett passed away on January 16, 2016, the day after her 90th birthday. She had lived on Pralle Lane in St Charles since 1965 and worked for many years as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's hospital. Margaret was born January 15, 1926 to Esther and Arvid Anderson in Bradford, Pennsylvania, the youngest of three children. Margaret attended Bradford High School and the Bradford Hospital School of Nursing. She married James R. Hartnett, also of Bradford, in 1948 and they had five children. James preceded her in death in 1990 after a long career at Monsanto Chemical in St. Peter's. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter Kristen Bigos of Seattle, Washington and brother Axel Anderson of Bradford.
Margaret was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church. She was active there in many volunteer roles and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She was an avid quilter and reader.
She is survived by her sister Martha Anderson of Bradford, daughters Karen Epstein(Robert) of Bellevue, Washington and Martha Melvoin(Jeff) of Los Angeles and by sons Thomas, David and James, all of the St. Charles area, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her family wishes to express their great thanks to Mt. Carmel Senior Living and Kindred Hospice for their devotion to Margaret.
