Margaret Lavar Kelley (nee Phillippe), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 92. Cherished daughter of the late Lemuel Arthur and Nellie Turner Phillippe; devoted mother of Kandice Lynn Kelley. Margaret was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur E. Phillippe, and son, Richard Lawrence Kelley.

Margaret, a distinguished member of Pi Lambda Theta and an honorary member of Alpha Delta Kappa, was a woman of remarkable achievements driven by her fervent dedication to education. After graduating from Stephen’s College, she pursued her academic journey at the University of Denver where she crossed paths with Lawrence Kelley, eventually marrying him despite their later divorce, maintaining a lasting connection with Larry throughout her life.

Obtaining both her B.Ed and M.Ed from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Margaret continued her scholarly pursuits through graduate studies at the University of Virginia, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and the University of Hawaii. Her illustrious career in education spanned across Columbia public schools, Fairfax County, and several institutions in St. Charles, Missouri. She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution. Margaret's legacy is one of profound impact and enduring love, cherished dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
