Marie Henrietta Sophie Poeppelmeier (nee Sunderhuse), of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 100. Loving wife of 73 years to the late Reinhard Frederick Poeppelmeier; beloved daughter of the late Christian and Louise Sunderhuse; devoted mother of Charles (Linda) Poeppelmeier, Kenneth (Maria) Poeppelmeier, Lois (William) Leslie, and David (Kimberly) Poeppelmeier; cherished grandmother of Christian (Jenn) Poeppelmeier, Audrey (Travis) Schafer, Adam (Lara) Poeppelmeier, Neal (Lauren) Poeppelmeier, Deanna (Peter) Verchick, and Mark (Stacey) Poeppelmeier; treasured great-grandmother of Lily, Liam, Eva, Mila, Freida, Cora, Sophie, Emmitt, James Peter, Reed, and two great-granddaughters on the way.
Marie was preceded in death by her siblings, Sophie Sunderhuse, Anna (Henry) Kriesmann, William (Edna) Sunderhuse, Minna (Carl) Kauffeld, Herman (Frieda) Sunderhuse, and Louise (Chuck) McCoy.
Marie immigrated to the United States on Nov. 5, 1923 with her family. Her family joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles where she was a member of the Confirmation Class of June 1933. Marie married Reinhard Frederick Poeppelmeier on October 22, 1944 and enjoyed 73 loving years of marriage.
Marie loved quilting and was a member of the Quilting Circle at Immanuel. She also enjoyed celebrating her birthday along with the members of the Birthday Club at church as well.
Marie was a great mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
