Marilyn Helen Steinhoff (nee: Boehmer) of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 78 on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Clara (Meyers) Boehmer, Sr.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Clarence A. Steinhoff of 60 years: her children, Glenda (Mark) Ell, Jeffrey (Christine) Steinhoff, Karen (Neal) Holzum, Tim (Melissa) Steinhoff, and Monica (Bob) Nixon; her grandchildren, Mark (Kathryn) Ell, Amanda (Nathan) Andres, Kelsey (Kyle) Lehning, Kaitlyn Steinhoff, Kent Steinhoff, Todd Pieper, Savannah Pieper, Ethan Nixon, Travis Nixon, and Danielle Nixon; her great-grandchildren, Jaxson Andres and Evie Andres; her siblings, Dorothy (the late Bill) Colbert, Lorraine (Danny) Schomaker, Toni (Willis) Steinhoff, Anthony (the late Terri) Boehmer, Jr., Brenda (Jim) McKinzie, Beverly (Kevin) Kenny, and Arlene (Billy) Coleman; and a special thank you to her spiritual friend, Barb Bott, who came daily for communion and prayer.
Marilyn was a faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Parish for 55 years and she was always so grateful to the Priests who visited her while homebound. She was a member of The Ladies Sodality. Marilyn was proud to be a 1960 graduate of St. Charles High School. While attending, Marilyn was a Sergeant Drum Majorette and was able to twirl her baton until late in life. She had a deep passion for baking and had an amazing creative talent for it. For 45 years, she was a self-employed avid cake decorator. She made countless fantastic designs: wedding cakes, groom cakes, themed birthday cakes, pies and cookies. She loved to tackle new recipes and watch others enjoy. She had many hobbies and interests such as fishing, dancing and bowling. Marilyn was dedicated to a life of farming, enjoyed tending to her garden, and canning the great harvest she produced. She did this all while working Full time at Schnuck's Bakery for 19 years.
She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making gifts for family and friends; especially scarves and more recently masks. There were rarely any times where Marilyn wasn’t busy with some project to do for her family. She was very organized and went at things as a perfectionist. The St. Louis Cardinals had her constant support; she never missed watching one of their games, even while her disease progressed. She was very proud of making Fredbird's Anniversary cake.
Above everything, Marilyn loved the time she spent with her family and treasured the memories they made together over the years. She truly loved everyone and her selfless, giving nature was a source of strength to many. Marilyn will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
