Marilyn Johannesman (nee Howell), of O Fallon, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the age of 85. Loving wife of 65 years to Robert Johannesman; beloved daughter of the late Viola and Lester Howell; devoted mother of Eric Johannesman (Shannon Lamkin) and Mark (Denise) Johannesman; cherished grandmother of Alec Johannesman, Spencer Johannesman, Emma Johannesman and Anna Johannesman; dear sister of Barbara (Harold) Ormsby, the late Les (Jean) Howell, the late Louise Howell, and the late Donald “Buddy” (Margaret) Howell.
Marilyn was a devoted woman of faith and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She said her daily Rosary and devotionals regularly. She also loved to read novels, especially mysteries, and she always looked forward to her weekly trip to the library for her next stack of books to read. In her spare time, Marilyn liked to sew, and she took up Tole painting as a hobby.
Always on the go, Marilyn enjoyed going on her daily walk. She loved organizing around the house, cleaning closets, drawers and cabinets. She was quite the housekeeper and always made sure her house was immaculate when guests arrived. Marilyn was very much a “Martha” in her home; never stopping, always going and trying to take care of everyone and everything. She put every ounce of effort into making everyone feel at home when they were her guests. She was always serving, taking care of people, and she was very compassionate and loving with everything she did.
Marilyn loved her family, and she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She always looked forward to spending time with her family. When Marilyn and Robert retired, they enjoyed traveling together. They took 2 trips each year and would just drive all over to take in the sights. They drove through 49 of the 50 states, and also drove into Canada and Mexico. Nova Scotia was just beautiful, and it was one of her favorite destinations.
Marilyn was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be made in Marilyn's name to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
