Marilyn Miller

Marilyn K Miller (nee Swint), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of Jimmy Miller; cherished daughter of the late Lawrence and Lorna Swint; devoted mother of Laura (Frederick) Benchie and Marti (Félix Luna) Miller; loving grandmother of Samuel Benchie.

While life's journey led Marilyn to New York, Nebraska, and ultimately the St. Louis, MO area, Hot Springs, SD was where her heart called home. She often shared stories of the beautiful landscapes and adventures of her youth growing up in her beloved Black Hills. She was a very compassionate woman whose life was dedicated to helping others. After staying home to raise her girls, she returned to school at Webster University to earn her Master's degree and began a rewarding career as a respected professor of special education. Marilyn was a woman of many talents. She was a gifted writer, painter and enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. She also had a love for animals, providing a caring home for countless rescue cats and dogs over the course of her life. Marilyn appreciated the simplicity and joy in everyday things – from the view outside her window, to an unexpected belly laugh. She loved socializing and especially enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings where a game was always on the agenda and friends and family were never to leave without taking some leftovers. It was the moments, not the material things, that mattered most to Marilyn. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Memorials may be made in Marilyn's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Black Hills Works.
