Marilyn Sutter

April 30, 1937 — August 30, 2024

Marilyn Jane Sutter of St. Peters, MO, passed away on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born in St. Louis, MO on April 30th, 1937 to Jerry and Virginia Turner. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Laura (Chris) Lager, Julie Sutter (Matt Heiligenstein), Dan (Brandi) Sutter, Terry Whitehead, Becky (Joe) George, and David B. (Lori) Whitehead. Cherished grandmother “Grammie” of Mollie Lager, Dr. Emily Lager, Hannah Lager, Jake Lager, Sophia Sutter, Jack Sutter, Madalyn (Chris) Colbert, Mason George, Grant B. Whitehead, and Drake Whitehead. Great-Grandmother to Mabry and Dawson Colbert. Dearest sister to Kathy Woods and Linda Lawrence. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Virginia Turner, Robert Sutter (1992) her husband of 26 years and the father of her children and Carl “Ben” Whitehead (2020) her husband of 18 years. She was a dear aunt, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Marilyn was the second born of three girls, the “Three Musketeers”. She was a fashionista from the time she was young, always dressing to impress no matter where she was going and always wearing her stylish sunglasses. This love of clothes extended to her kids that she dressed up in cute, matching outfits (much to their chagrin) from The Chocolate Soup. Grandchildren grew up playing in a closet full of dressup clothes, hats and jewelry. She grew up in a tight knit family. She passed on those close family values that were instilled in her at a young age to her own children. She spent every moment she could with her loved ones. Whether she was attending a milestone event like a wedding or a graduation or simply enjoying dinner on a Saturday evening on the deck, she loved to be surrounded by family. She loved a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, Hallmark movies, a fire in the fireplace, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. When Marilyn wasn’t with family, she also enjoyed a very busy social life at Clarendale. Here she made many new dear friends, enjoyed weekly trips to Schnucks, playing Pinochle, serving on the activities committee and of course enjoying the weekly happy hours.
