Marion I. Kuefner

Marion Irene Kuefner (nee Rittgers), beloved mother, grandmother, devoted wife and cherished friend; passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025 at the age of 96. Born in Johnson Iowa, Marion spent her early years immersed in the joys of farm life in Maxwell, Iowa. She cultivated a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the simple pleasures that would shape her character for years to come. 

In 1960, Marion married the love of her life, Mervin Kuefner, and together they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and kindness. Marion's greatest joy was her family and she nurtured her loved ones with unwavering support and affection. Her grandchildren will always remember her as a source of endless love and wisdom.

Marion was also a proud member of the Eastern Star of Iowa, where she found a community of like-minded individuals who shared her values of kindness and service. Her involvement in this organization reflected her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those around her.

Marion is survived by her daughter Jeanie (Dave) Calvin; her grandchildren; Patrick (Maggie) Calvin and Kaitlyn Cook; great grandchildren, Hunter, Leo, Kaia and Kaleesi; and one brother, Harold Rittgers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Kuefner; her parents Charles (Barton) and Mary Rittgers; and her sisters, Shirley Rose and Ruth Mae.

Marion will be remembered not only for her love of her family and friends but also her infection smile, generous heart and unwavering strength. Her presence in our lives was a true gift and her memory will forever be cherished.
