Marjorie E. Barklage passed into eternal life Christmas Day at age 103. She was born near Wentzville, Missouri to Clifford and Lottie (nee Snell) Goodfellow. Devoted wife of Paul H. Barklage, loving mother of Cheryl Hill (Rodney) and David Barklage (Marcia), grandmother of Matthew Hill (Nancy), Ryan Barklage, Katherine Rash (Christopher), Andrew Hill (Sarah) and Kelly Gravlin (Justin). She loved her great-grandchildren, Keagan and Carlie Gravlin, Sophie Barklage, Daniel and Benjamin Rash, and McKenna, Nathan, James, Eric, Aubrey and Mark Hill. She is survived by brother-in-law Ralph Gonzales, age 104 and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Tom (Eunice), John (Yvonne) and Lloyd Dorsey (Fern) Goodfellow, and sister Marian Gonzales, brother-in-law Harold Barklage (Gladys) and sister-in-law Eunice Dickens (Edward).
She retired from being secretary at Lincoln Elementary School where she had worked for 22 years, serving many families in St. Charles. On her 101st birthday she was presented a key to the city of St. Charles for her work at the school.
When people speak of Marjorie, they always mention her smile, her laugh, and her ability to cheer the people around her. She did not complain or speak ill of anyone. She was a very capable problem solver. A big part of her and Paul's lives was caring for elderly relatives.
She was an active member of St. John UCC. Enjoyed travelling, playing games, painting and gathering with various social groups for lunch, sewing and visiting.
Visitation will be held at Baue on Jefferson Street from 9:30 – 11:00 am on January 3rd with a service immediately following. A private burial and luncheon will be held for extended family.
