Martin “Marty” Slagle
February 26, 1933 — August 17, 2013
Slagle, Martin vanBibber "Marty", of O'Fallon, Missouri, died on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the age of 80. Loving husband of Judy Slagle; beloved son of the late Fuller and Mary Shepard, and the late Geoffrey Slagle; devoted father of Van (Jenny) Slagle, Cyndi (Ernie) Ferguson, Sue (Keith Steinhoff) Stoner, Kevin (Vanessa) Slagle, Keith (Michelle) Slagle, and Karen (Joe) Mays; cherished grandfather of 13; treasured great-grandfather of 8; dear brother of Gaylon (Linda) Shepard and Denzil (Olga) Shepard. He is preceded in death by his siblings Cletus Shepard, Linzell Shepard, Lillian Hogan, and Nadine Ham.

My dear friends and dearest family, I've made the divine journey with the angels to live forever in comfort and peace surrounded by the beauty that only Heaven can offer. I'll be telling stories, fixing cars to race, boxing and building whatever I can for whoever I can help now for the rest of eternity as I greet friends and family once again. The sky was blue and the temperature was perfect as if God had made the day just for me. The American flag flew in front of the house that I helped build and my Cardinals were defeating the Cubs 'the way things ought to be'. I left surrounded by those dearest to me and so many prayers comforting me from afar from so many others. I am peaceful and happy, and my face shall forever bare my bright blue eyes and my everlasting SMILE.
The family will be hosting an open house at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2013 at their home, 501 Eggering Dr., O'Fallon, MO 63366. Friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, St. Charles, MO
