Little, Marvin J., of Portage des Sioux, Missouri, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Heitmann Little; loving father of Carol (Jon) Odle, Shirley (Stephen) Ochs, Ronald (Martha) Little, Debra (Larry) Lappe, David (Terrie) Little, Melvin (Lynne) Little and Karen (Guy) Olsen; cherished grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 14; twin brother of Margie Gerard; and a cherished friend of many. He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Maggie Little and siblings Laverne Weber, Dallas Little, Genevieve Rossier and Loretta McDaniel. Marvin was a self employed farmer and proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He spent a short but memorable time as a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league baseball team. Marvin was a life long member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Orchard Farm VFW Post 4219, American Legion Post 319, Land Between the Rivers Historical Society, and St. Charles Knights of Columbus. He had been inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame, where he also served on the board and into the St. Louis Baseball Hall of Fame. Services: The family is being served by The Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles, MO where visitation will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010 3:00-9:00 PM. Also visitation at Church 9:00-10:00 on the day of the service. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, P.O. Box 128 1235 Farnham Street, Portage des Sioux, MO. Interment St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, VFW 4219, or masses.
