Mary Anne Halliday

HALLIDAY, Mary A., age 65, left this world at 5:22PM Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a lengthy illness with her family at her side. Born April 10, 1941 in Highland, Illinois to Earl and Lucille (Jenne) Gruenenfelder. She was married October, 1961 and divorced in 2001. She graduated from Civic Memorial High School in 1958 where she was homecoming queen. Her greatest joy in life were her family and the environment. She worked as a public school teacher and then for the Environmental Services Department of St. Charles County until her retirement in 2003 due to illness. She was instrumental in the creation of the St. Charles County recycling project, and was the Public Education Director for Recycling for St. Charles County. She also was instrumental in the creation of the Weldon Spring cleanup project which was competed in 2005. She is survived by a brother, David Gruenenfelder and his wife Virginia of Litchfield, her ex-husband, her son Gregory Halliday and his wife Anne of Bethalto, her daughter Christina Ochs and husband Alan of Defiance, MO, her son Michael Halliday and wife Wendy of St. Charles, MO., her son Jason of Defiance, MO, her grandchildren Amanda and Victoria of Bethalto, IL, Taylor and Brittany Ochs of Defiance, MO, Emily, Benjamin and Maggie of St. Charles, MO, Cassandra and Devin Halliday of St. Charles, MO, her nephew Ryan Gruenenfeld of Springfield, IL, Bethany Gruenenfelder of California, Jeremy Gruenenfelder of Carbondale, IL, loving lifelong friends and a close friend Fawn Zalabak, she was preceded in death by a son, Daren Halliday and his wife Ronda.
