Mary Costello

August 4, 1928 — July 16, 2017

Mary Costello of Edgewood, Kentucky died on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, surrounded by her loving family. Born to Marian and Genieve Embree in 1928 Mary led an extraordinary life. She pushed the envelope; going with her heart and trying her best to do what was right. After more than 35 years with Southern Bell, now ATT, Mary retired as an engineer. It was a title that she earned when she became the second woman in the United States to receive that designation. Her work ethic was admirable. During her time with ATT, Mary was a member of the Pioneers Club. Amongst crocheting and cross stitch, bowling was once a favorite past time. It was in a bowling alley where Mary met her husband of almost 48 years, John. After losing a bet to Mary, John later won a kiss. She kept John and their three daughters on their toes. She was known for her love of her family, margaritas and a good glass of wine. She was loved dearly and will be sorely missed. Mary was preceeded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Leubert; and Daughter, Linda Lou Dodd. She is survived by her loving husband, John Costello; daughters; Cleatra (Rudy) Noel , Dana (Sam) Hoeper, Kenya (Mark) Bumgarner; grandchildren, Lisa, Chad, Emily, Ellen, Anna, Luke; and great –grandchildren, Quinten, Amber, Cassie, Brett, Lexi, Connor, Madeline, Charleston, and one on the way.

A visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 12:00PM – 2:00PM with a service to follow. Burial will take place in St. Charles, Missouri.
