Memorials may be given to Missouri Kidney Program. Mary Ellen Tammons Berry was born December 1, 1921 in Festus, MO., the first child of Egar and Frances Tammons. She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings Glenn, Herbert, Charlie, and Marguerite. Mary met and married Jesse Eugene Berry, who also preceded her in death. To this marriage they were blessed with a wonderful and loving son, Orlando Eugene. Mary received her elementary and secondary education in the public school system of St. Louis, MO. She continued her education in vocational studies, specifically specializing in becoming a seamstress. She worked for twelve years as a floor supervisor at Frager Dress Factory in downtown St. Louis, retiring due to health conditions in 1962. A mighty soldier in the army of the Lord, Mary was a true and faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Church - St. Louis, MO; Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church - Houston, TX; and currently, St. John A.M.E. Church - St. Charles, MO. serving as a Stewardess, Deaconess, and recognized as one of the 2001 Seasoned Saints. Mary's seamstress talents, cooking abilities, and desires to make whomever comfortable when in her presence were a true reflection of her love for God, family, and friends. (''Can I get you anything''?). Mary leaves to cherish her warm remembrances, a devoted son, Orando-O'Fallon, MO; sister, Carole-Festus, MO; daughter-in-law, Carolyn-Newnan, GA; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and wonderful friends.
