Mary Ellen Schaefer

Mary Ellen Agnes Schaefer (nee Auchly), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late William “Bill” R. Schaefer; cherished daughter of the late Oliver and Agnes Auchly; devoted mother of Richard " Rick" W. (Sheila) Schaefer, Susan "Sue" K. (Mark) Wappelhorst, Lynn M. (Carl)  McMurtry, Donald "Donny" D. (Susan) Schaefer and Lori A. (Steven) Crabtree; loving grandmother of Johnathan (Jessi) Schaefer, Heather (Josh) Baniak, Aaron Wappelhorst, Brandon (Megan) Wappelhorst, Crysten Wappelhorst, Shannon (Sabina) McMurtry, Trisha (Scott) English, Casey (Kristin) McMurtry, Aubrey (Ryan) Bryzeal, Caitlyn (John) Luecke, Jennifer (Brad) Burkett, Whitney (Brett Johnson) Schaefer and Cody Crabtree; treasured great-grandmother of 21; dear sister of the late Charles (Anna Lee) Auchly, the late Richard (Lorraine) Auchly and the late Nellie (Dale) Oetting; beloved sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many. Mary Ellen is also preceded in death by two infant sons Michael Schaefer and Steven Schaefer; grandson, Austin Crabtree and great-granddaughter Maci McMurtry.

Mary Ellen was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, MO and C&H Pinch Hitters. She was a woman of Faith, God and family meant everything to her. Mary Ellen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Mary Ellen's name to Community Loving Care Hospice or Masses.
