Mary Ann Charos Gardels was called to her eternal home on May 14, 2023, in St. Charles, Missouri.
Mary Ann was born March 14, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Andrew James Charos and Ida Dorothy Betty (Glahn) Charos. She was baptized on April 14, 1929, and confirmed on June 6, 1943, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City.
She was married to Dale Walter Gardels on May 14, 1955, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Mary Ann was employed by Farmers Insurance Group for 46 years and retired in 1994. Survivors include her twin daughters, Susan Denise Schmieding and Cynthia Diane Burreson; sons-in-law, Rev. Scott Schmieding and Rev. Dr. Kent Burreson; and four grandchildren, Jenna (Ryan) Gwaltney, Paul Schmieding, Maggie (Jared) Burreson-Webber and Lily Kate Burreson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale, in 2016 and her brother, Andrew Dale Charos, in 2009.
Mary Ann was a beloved wife, mother, and YiaYia (grandma). Her family was her world. She taught Sunday School for 21 years, sang many years in her church choir, and was an active member in the Kansas City Chapter of the Valparaiso University Guild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Music Ministry, Lutheran North Middle and High School (St. Louis), or Lutheran High School of St. Charles County.
