Mary Helen DeKeuster (nee Thompson), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late Philip DeKeuster; cherished daughter of the late James and Helen Thompson. Devoted mother of Rebecca (Chad Emper) DeKeuster and Phil (Bridget) DeKeuster; loving grandmother of Isabella DeKeuster Sophie DeKeuster, and Evangeline DeKeuster; lifelong friend of Carolyn (the late Richard) Schaefer, children of lifelong friend Carolyn, Kathy, Linda, Richard Jr.
Mary will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and commitment to social justice, manifested in all she did but particularly in her work for the Salvation Army and later, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. A devoted grandmother, she took great joy in spending time with Bella, Sophie and Evie. She was a second Mom to her children’s friends, who were welcome around her kitchen table at all hours and in all conditions, where they would enjoy home cooking, laughter and storytelling into the wee hours. She spent many happy hours creating beautiful quilts, reading voraciously, and caring for her pets, most recently her beloved and not at all spoiled 18-year-old cat Priscilla. Mary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
“Love is shown more in deeds than in words.”
Memorials may be made in Mary's name to Salvation Army or St Vincent De Paul Society at St Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church St Charles Mo..
