Mary Kathryn Corn

Memorials may be made to St. John's Mercy Heart Hospital. Mrs. Porter M. Corn, Jr., (Mary Kathryn Caldwell) died Thursday, September 27, 2007. Her friends all knew her as "Kay." She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Porter Corn, Jr., her parents Bill and Mabel Caldwell, her only sister Frances McLean, all of Arkadelphia. She retired in 1998 after working 29 years with the same Community Action Agency. She was a member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church although she frequently attended Olive Hill Missionary Baptist Church on Chicot Road where she had many friends. She was a talented landscape artist, having sold paintings locally and was an avid gardner. She attended Henderson State Teachers College (now Henderson University) in Arkadelphia. She is survived by three sons, Porter III (Lola), David (Carolyn), Jimmy (Cinda) and one daughter, Julie (Edward) Elliott of St. Louis. She also leaves a beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Elliott Burckhardt (Tim) of St. Louis and her one and only grandson T.J. Corn of Little Rock. She also leaves granddaughters Amber of North Little Rock, Amy of Miami, Florida, Shalara of Malvern and three step-grandchildren, Stacy, Kelly, Jeff. She has one special great-grandson, Jack Brennan Burckhardt of St. Louis, Mo and one great-granddaughter, Emily of North Little Rock. She leaves two brothers, James Caldwell and Dr. Bill Caldwell of Arkadelphia and one "extra" sister, Jane Lucas of Arkadelphia, a special friend, Mary Maulden of Little Rock and her internet friends in Nuevo Larado, Mexico. Because of poor health, she moved to St. Louis to live with her daughter in 2007.
