Mary Louise Glauert Krieger

January 10, 1926 to August 27, 2018

Mary Louise (Glauert) Krieger, age 92 was born January 10, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri.  She died on August 27, 2018 at Garden View Care Center in O’Fallon, MO with her husband of 70 years, Rev. Harley Krieger and family by her side.    Her parents were Ruby Mae (Hitz) Glauert and Theodore Edward Glauert.  She was the eldest of 3 children.  Her younger brother, Earl Theodore Glauert lives in the Washington D.C. area.  Her younger sister Dorothea (Dottie) Mae Glauert Engelsdorfer lives in Belleville, Illinois.

Mary Lou graduated from Ferguson High School in Ferguson, MO in 1944.  She then attended Miss Hickey’s Secretarial School in St. Louis where she became proficient in typing and short hand.  These two skills served her very well as she assisted in producing church bulletins and newsletters during her husband’s work as a pastor.  Next, Mary Lou enrolled in Elmhurst College in the Chicago area.  While taking classes there, she met Harley Albert Paul Krieger, who was from New Ulm, Minnesota.  Harley and Mary Lou became engaged and then married on December 28, 1947 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson, Missouri.  This is also the church where Mary Lou was confirmed.

Mary Lou discontinued her college education and moved to Webster Groves, Missouri where her husband, Harley was enrolled in Eden Seminary.  In 1950, while Harley was a student at Eden, their first child, daughter, Carolyn Sue Krieger Graves (Bill) was born.  They had 3 other children.  Paul Harley Krieger (Janis), Mark Harley Krieger and Laura Louise Krieger Davidson (Mark).

Mary Lou was a devoted and skilled wife, mother and homemaker.  During the 37 years that her husband, Harley served as pastor to churches in the communities of DeSoto, Missouri; Marine, Illinois; Quincy, Illinois; and Florissant, Missouri, Mary Lou created loving homes and flowering yards at each church parsonage. They finally retired in 1987 to a condo in Lake Saint Louis Missouri where they resided for almost 25 years.  During the Lake Saint Louis years, Mary Lou supported Harley’s ministry as interim Pastor to churches in the area and was a devoted grandmother to 9 grandchildren:  Jessica and Joel Graves, Matthew Krieger (Rachel), Kim Krieger Martin (Ben), Rachel Krieger, Leah Krieger Mulfinger (Mark), Richelle Davidson, Jenna Davidson Baskin (Robert) and Krista Davidson. Mary Lou and Harley also have 3 great-grandchildren:  Nyle and Barrett Krieger and Ava Martin.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ruby Glauert. She will be buried beside them at Lake Charles Park Cemetery at 7775 St. Charles Rock Road in St. Louis, MO.
