Mary Marjorie “Marge” Gentemann (nee Schaeffer) was born on October 25, 1937 and died on May 11, 2022 at the age of 84.
Dearest mother of Maury (Lynne) Gentemann, Mona (Keith) Diebold, and Michael (Stephanie) Gentemann. Loving and devoted Granny to Kylie, Casey, and Cassidy Diebold, and Alex and Jordan Gentemann. Preceded in death by her husband, Maurice “M.C.” and grandson, Kaid Gentemann. She was a beloved sister to Alice Forbeck, sister-in-law to Don Forbeck, Betty Hirtz, and Mary Schaeffer; cherished aunt, cousin, and friend.
Marge was a life-long resident of O’Fallon and a life-long member of Assumption Catholic Church. She was the past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5077 and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. For many years, Marge was the coordinator for the Red Cross Blood Drives at Assumption Parish. Marge was quite the card shark and enjoyed playing Pinochle and Euchre with her friends. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas Jayhawks fan. Marge enjoyed gambling trips and going to the local casinos. Her favorite show that she watched daily was Jeopardy. No one ever interrupted her daily dose of Jeopardy! Marge took great pleasure in baking, quilting, putting puzzles together, and reading. Above all, Marge cherished the time she spent with her family. She loved unconditionally and with her whole heart. She was strong, independent, giving, caring, and loving. Marge was a beautiful lady both inside and out, certainly one-of-a-kind! She will forever be missed, but not forgotten by all who knew her and loved her.
