Mary Maxine Kerschen (Nee: McCrea) passed away on July 9, 2017. She was born September 9, 1921, the second of three children, to Robert and Zola McCrea in Wichita, Kansas. She met Al Kerschen in 1941 while they were working at Cessna and they were married in 1950 and grew their family with four children. After 67 years of marriage Al died April 14, 2017, and as they always did everything together it wouldn’t be long before Maxine followed.
Maxine was a woman of strong faith and a prayer warrior. She was also known for her letter writing skills, family and friends recall their love for getting her letters. Maxine was very much a numbers lady. She worked at various clerical and banking jobs over the years, including for Commerce Bank, Kemba Credit Union and Ozark Airlines. Mostly she loved being a wife and mother.
She is survived by her four children: Kay Johnston, Michele (Doug) Bowen, Bob (Kelly) Kerschen, and Joel (Ellen) Kerschen; her six grandchildren: Michael (April) Johnston, Jessica (Josh) Collins, Paul Bowen, Christopher “Chuck” Kerschen, Dallas (Courtney) Kerschen, and James Kerschen; and three great-grandchildren.
Maxine and Al were children of the depression but always managed to convey how grateful they were for their lives and their families. They were great role models for us as their children and loved us unconditionally. They will be both be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Relief.
