Mary Rose Atkinson

Mary Rose Atkinson (Schutz) of St. Charles died on Saturday March 24, 2018, 1:14pm at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon, MO. She was born Saturday March 19, 1932 to Emlis Ward and Ethel Ruth Schutz (Willis) of Greene County Illinois. She married Robert E. Atkinson also of Greene County on June 8, 1950 who died September 30, 2016.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Harold A. Schutz of Roodhouse and Lyndell W. Schutz of Edwardsville and by her sisters Letha Wyrick of White Hall and Elsie Ervin of Alton.
She is survived by her brother Howard A. Schutz of Jacksonville and her children S. Mark Atkinson and Damon E. Atkinson of St. Peters MO, Rhonda E. O’Donnell of Wentzville MO, and by 3 grandchildren; Stacy, Matthew, and Ethan and 3 great-grandchildren; Andrew, Alexis, and Benjamin.
Mary devoted much of her life to helping others through her career as a Registered Nurse. She especially loved her time spent in the Emergency Room, where she was able to make an impact on many of her patients’ lives. Mary was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Burial will be in Pine Tree Cemetery in Patterson Illinois and memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
