December 12, 1932 — January 9, 2023

Saint Charles

Mary Lou Sevick (nee Carroll), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at the age of 90. Beloved daughter of the late William and Helen Carroll; Devoted mother of Lail Marie McCary-Tornetto, Jennifer (Dennis) Counts, and the late Beth Allen (Mike) Crank; loving grandmother of Justin (Katie Kruse) Crank, Patrick (Andrea) McCary, Troy (Tiffany) Crank, Ashley (Isaac) Shannon, Zachary (Marissa) Counts, Nick Tornetto, Lamont Guido, and the late James Arron Moffat; treasured great grandmother of Asdis Laufey, Ashton Crank, Amelia Crank, Knox Shannon, Miles McCary, Kruz Shannon, Drew McCary, Avery Counts, Finnely Crank-Kruse, August Counts, Miller Counts, and Baby Boy Crank-Kruse; dear sister of Viola, the late August, the late Louise (Warren), the late June, the late Lucille, the late Bill, and the late Rose; survived by special friends Rick and Tami, Jim, Becky and Larry, Katie, Kandi, Susan, and Nita with her Messiah Singing Troop.

Mary was raised by her sister Louise and her husband Warren from the age of four as their own child. She has a wonderful country upbringing with many cousins, sisters, brothers, uncles, and aunts by her side. She spent hours playing in the creek and running with her dogs and horse. She grew up to marry the love of her life, Thomas Sevick, who was in the Navy and took Mary with him to Hawaii, California, and Florida, before returning to Missouri to finish college.

Mary was fondly known as “Grandma Mary” and her biggest joy was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her friends, as well as taking care of her plants. Mary never met an animal she didn’t love. She had a keen eye for good buys and antiquing.

Mary was kind to all and would befriend and counsel any soul that needed her help. Mary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Mary's name to St. Louis Stray Rescue and Five Acres.
