Competitive, smart, open, loving, sassy, sarcastic, strong, fierce, loyal, bratty, patient – that was Momma. Mom wanted to marry Dad (check), she wanted a family (check), and she wanted to leave this life peacefully in her sleep (check). If you knew Mom, it would not surprise you that even now, she’s getting what she wanted.
She would understand we weren’t ready for her to leave us, and it would make her heart happy that everyone she loves – “the family” (by blood, marriage, choice, and bowling shirts), her Terminix family, and friends old and new – have come together to enjoy one another and share some food that she didn’t have to make. So, let’s laugh and celebrate as we mourn and miss her, all the while knowing that she’s sitting on her porch innocently smiling, letting us believe it was our idea and not her plan all along.
In her death she happily joins Dad (competitive even in death, beating him by 13 years) and is once again with her daddy, her mom, and her siblings Carol, Roy, Jack, Gene, Paul, Anna Mae, Red, Bob, Bill, and Norbert. To the remaining Boedekers – tag you’re it.
Maureen, Mom, Momma, Gma, GG – you were a gift that touched the lives of so many. You leave us behind, but not alone – Janice, Donna, Robert, Beth, Victoria, Christina, Matthew, Brenda, Dan, Kolette, JJ, Connor, Ryan, Logan, Daniel, Dylan, Reyna, Kayla, Madrona, and Berkeley.
And one more thing – Momma we love you more. (Ha, we win!)
At Mom’s request, a single yellow rose will be displayed representing her & Dad’s love. If you feel inclined, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Special Olympics or St. Vincent DePaul as both missions were special to her.
