Maureen Kellett of Washington, MO, passed away at the age of 60 on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Beloved daughter of John and Patricia Kellett. Dearest sister of Karen (Mike) Hoelting. Best Aunt in the world to Amy (Craig) Lackey, Michael Hoelting, and Johnny (Brittney) Hoelting. Wonderful Great Aunt to Alice, Emma, and Baby Nugget Lackey. Dear niece, cousin, and friend.
Maureen received her BSN from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and her MBA from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She worked for 35 years as a NICU nurse at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, helping to save the lives of countless premature infants. She was well respected as a nurse by her peers and was known especially for her knowledge, her compassion, and her bean dip.
If we are known by the company we keep, then Maureen’s character was stellar because she had the best friends in the world, including, but not limited to MaryAnn, Jim, Dave, Julie, Mary-Grace, Paula, Margaret, Jeanne, Kathie, Martha, and so many others.
Maureen lived to travel. She travelled the world, from Australia to Wales, from Yosemite to Nova Scotia, and all points in between, enjoying every minute.
She loved the Missouri Botanical Garden, Christmas, floating on a raft in Bull Shoals Lake, the St. Louis Cardinals (most of the time), the Tour de France, Golf, Photography, Quilting, and her gardens (but not weeding them). She grew the best flowers in her neighborhood. Above all else, she loved her friends and family.
Maureen fought a valiant battle against cancer with grace and especially humor. She valued quality of life over quantity, and she was always in control of her journey. When recently asked what was on her bucket list, she replied, “Nothing, and that’s evidence of a life fully lived.”
Our lives will never be the same without her, because our lives were so blessed from knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family requests memorials to
