Maxine Ann Smith

Maxine Ann (nee: James) Smith, age 88, a resident of St. Peters died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Breeze Park Care Center in St. Charles. She was born January 7, 1921, in St. Louis, the daughter of Harry and Ona Couch James. She grew up in Maplewood and graduated from high school there. Maxine married Nelson Ewing Smith on March 1, 1942, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death in June of 1993. She assisted her husband for a number of years in the Nelson E. Smith Realty Company in addition to being a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Peters. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Catron and husband Lyle, Nevada, Missouri, and son James Smith and wife Jean, St. Peters. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shane Catron, Rogers, Arkansas; Andrea Stiles, Ft. Scott, Kansas; Stacey Kohl, Columbia, Missouri; Josh Smith, Springfield, Missouri; and Jason Smith, St. Peters; and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Teegan Stiles, Ft. Scott, Kansas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan James, and sister, Inez Hale.
