Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation. Melba M. "Mel" Blattel (nee: Stange), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed into Heaven away from pain on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the age of 84. Dear wife of James (Jim) Blattel for 62 years. Loving mother of Bob (Chris) Blattel, Mike Blattel, Jim (Rhonda) Blattel, Jeff (Debbie) Blattel, John (Susan) Blattel. Grandma to Katie, Scott, Whitney, Alyssa, Carrie, Tom, Amanda, Raychel, Andrew and Nicholas; Great Grandma to Maddie, Rhiannan, Jaden and Devin. Sister to, Ruth and Peggy. Sister-in-law to Portia, Virginia and Shirley. God chose Mel at this time to bring her home because her work on earth was done. Mom was one of the strongest women anyone could have known having raised 5 boys and also being Mom to 4 wives. Her many beloved recipes have been passed down to the next generation and her loving ways and concern will stay with us forever. What a great lady for Heaven to open its gates for and hopefully the fishing will be as good up there as it was on earth for Mom to enjoy. Services: The family is being served by The Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles, MO where visitation will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 4:00-8:00 PM.
