Melvin proudly served in the United States Navy and was known for his work ethic and dedication throughout his life. He was the last employee, as chief engineer, to leave Valley Farm Dairy and later retired from Prairie Farms Ice Cream Specialty after many years of committed service. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles, Melvin’s faith was a cornerstone of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting and fishing, with a particular fondness for rabbit hunting. Melvin was also beloved for his storytelling and humor, always quick to share a joke. His love for the Lord was evident through his tireless efforts to spread the gospel, even going door to door witnessing. One day, he handed out $20 bills at Walmart to anyone willing to listen to him share his faith.
Above all, Melvin was deeply devoted to his family, working hard to support them, and ensuring they regularly attended church. He was a loving husband to his wife, Loretta, for 40 years until her passing in 1996. Melvin’s steadfast dedication to both his family and his faith left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Memorials may be made in Melvin's name to First Baptist Church St Charles.
