Mereda Louise Raymond, daughter of Raymond and Edna Brown Langley, was born March 20, 1922, in Piggott Arkansas, and passed away November 23, 2016, St. Charles, MO at the age of 94.
At an early age, Mereda became a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church near Piggott. She was united in marriage to Herman Raymond on June 14. 1952. In 1954, after moving to St. Charles, MO, she began attending the First United Methodist church of St. Charles, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
Mereda was a member of Kappa Kappa Lota Sorority and Missouri State Teachers’ Association. She taught in the public school for 37 years. Eleven of those year were at Piggott, Arkansas and 26 in St. Louis County retiring from the Ferguson-Florissant School District in 1978. She was also a member of the Wesleyan Circle of First United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Mereda enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and reading the newspaper. After retiring, she enjoyed several years of traveling.
She is survived by nephew Kenneth Toppins and wife Debbie of Bonne Terre, Missouri; great-niece Dawn Nephew; great-great nephews Austin and Brandon Nephew; several nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends. Her husband preceded her in death on March 12, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Nada Toppins. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Services: The family is being served by Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles, MO, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Baue Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.
