Westhoff, Merrill B “Westy”
Born October 25th, 1921, in Slater, MO, passed away May 29th, 2018 in St. Louis MO. Preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice “Betty” (Schmidle), and by his parents, Bernard and Eldena (Rehmsmeyer) Westhoff of Marshall, MO. Survived by his six sons, Mike (Susan), Mark (Debbie), Greg (Sue), Steve (Kate), Dave (Joan), and Jeff (Laura), 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Westy served in the 28th Infantry Regiment 8th Infantry division as 1st Lieutenant during WWII. A graduate from University of Missouri he spent his career as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer. After retiring he worked as an adjunct professor at Washington University. Westy was a devoted catholic who enjoyed his family, friends, building and flying RC planes, fishing, and volunteering.
