Michael “Mike” Earl McCauley joined his beloved wife Patricia “Pat” McCauley (nee McCulloch) on July 18, 2024. We have no doubt that Pat met him on the way up with a glass of Scotch and a lit Edgefield.
Born on February 11, 1948, Mike was an Army veteran and married into the right family joining forces with another “Mc” tribe on August 6, 1976. He carried on a tradition focused on family and fun (oh his legendary jokes!). You could hear his laugh or catch the tang of something delicious he was BBQing from 3 blocks away.
Mike earned a few nicknames along the way, “Anchor” from his family and friends because of his unwavering dedication and support and he was suitably crowned “Knucklehead” by his grandchildren for his shenanigans. Mike was a wonderful and supportive communicator with the most elegant penmanship you've ever seen if you were lucky enough to be his pen pal.
Mike and Pat's love story continued through their two daughters, Mary Christine (Brown) and Colleen (Schuler) (Nate), who blessed them with a house filled with adoring grandchildren: Kailey (Noah), Courtney, Katrina, Brant, JC, and Aidan. Mike also shared his home with two loyal dogs, Cooper and Jax, the latter of whom he humorously “stole” from his daughter.
Mike's legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Mike. You are deeply missed and forever loved. We will look to the clouds to see signs of your calligraphy telling us, “You are here.”
Memorials may be made in Michael's name to the Wounded Warriors Project or Lions Club or the Alzheimer’s Association.
