Michael Farano of O’Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 69 on Friday, October 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Farano; his parents, Michael and Irma Farano; and his sister, Virginia Farano.
Michael is survived by his wife, Patricia Farano (nee Coulter); his son, Matthew Farano; his grandchild, Morgan; his stepchildren, Carrie (John) Spalding and Rebecca Smith; his step-grandchildren, Julia, Ethan, Allyson, and Blake; and his sister, Laura Farano.
Mike was a parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, MO. He was scuba-certified, a former Boy Scout Leader, and had previously served as a volunteer firefighter/engineer and EMT in O’Fallon, MO. Music was one of Mike’s many passions and he had the distinction of belonging to three different jazz societies in the Midwest, though his love for music extended to many other genres as well. There was a special place in Mike’s heart for animals – especially dogs – and for the Chicago Bears whose 1985 Super Bowl win always brought a smile to his face.
Mike loved to relax and enjoy the finer things in life. He enjoyed traveling, visiting wineries, staying at bed and breakfasts, and attending concerts or theatrical performances at the Muny. Mike was a voracious reader who liked to watch movies and didn’t care if they were good or bad. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions in Mike’s name may be made to the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gateway Chapter,
the Muny Opera, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
