Michael Roch Zerr, known to his family and many friends as Mick, was born on January 20, 1958 in St. Charles, Missouri, to Jean Denker Zerr and Hubert Martin Zerr. He passed away on February 26, 2023, at the age of 65. Forty-one years ago, Mick married Anne (York) Zerr and they raised three children together: Katie Zerr (Sam Dudley), Danny Zerr (Stephanie), and Craig Zerr (Kelli Barton), and later became adoring grandparents to Murphy, Simon, Georgia, Elliott, and Callaway.
Mick’s siblings are Marty Zerr (Mitzie), Joan Twillman (Ron), M. Ellen Zerr (Ward Silver), Ann D. Zerr and Suzan Bateson (John).
He worked as a hod carrier for many years (Local 660) for R. Allman Inc. In his 30s he became a building inspector, and retired from St. Charles County Government in 2019 where he was an assistant director of the Building Division.
Mick was active in his community and was a member of such prestigious organizations as the St. Charles County Raccoon Hunters Association of the United States of America and the Knights of Columbus. He is a retired Corner Bar Cocked Hat Bowler, a member of St. Cletus Catholic Parish, and was a coach for the St. Charles Junior Baseball/Softball Association (the Bumb Construction team).
After his family, Mick loved his farm more than anything in the world. He loved spending time there hunting, fishing, and getting trucks and tractors stuck and then assembling a team of friends and relatives to get them unstuck. It seemed he could fix anything, and when his friends called, he would always be there to lend a hand. He enjoyed having a beer with his buddies, taking beach vacations, and seeing his children and grandchildren enjoy the farm. Mick always said he wanted to be buried at his farm, and his family will make sure that is his final resting place.
Memorials may be made in Mick's memory to the Ronald McDonald House at https://rmhc.org/donate, because he was so grateful for the kindness they showed to his daughter’s family when his grandson was in the NICU.
