Mike Merriman

Michael Lee Merriman, age 67, passed away Thursday morning, November 1st, 2018, at “Evelyn’s House Hospice” in Creve Coeur, Missouri surrounded by his wife, parents and family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Melissa, parents Frank and Rosemary Merriman, one brother, Jim and wife Debbie, five sisters and their husbands: Becky and Rod Bradshaw, Linda and John Zellmer, Lori and Mike Hanna, Marci and Mike Satterfield, and Julie and Paul Wallace along with 22 nephews and nieces, 24 great-nephews and nieces, and 6 great-great nephews and nieces, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Mike was born in Decatur, Illinois, on September 8th, 1951 and spent most of his childhood and youth years growing up in the Collinsville/Fairmont City area. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He and his wife Melissa lived in the general St. Louis area for many years and enjoyed living in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past six years.

Mike enjoyed life! He loved his wife and his parents and big family. He was a cowboy, a horseman, horse trainer and loved Country Western music. He loved to play the guitar and loved old Western movies. During the later years of his life, he developed a passion for scuba diving and became an avid diver and professional Divemaster. He and Melissa were blessed with the opportunity to go on many cruises and experience diving in many locations throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii, California, Florida and Central America.

Mike was a no-thrills kind of guy, and never wanted a fuss over himself. He was extremely healthy and enjoyed many outside activities. He and Melissa especially enjoyed their time in the desert and mountains around Las Vegas and were always eager to show the beauty of the desert with family members and friends that came to visit. When faced with terminal illness, his faith carried him through and he told his family that he was blessed with so much more in life than he could have imagined.

Mike will be greatly missed by his wife, Melissa, all his family and many friends who are left to hold tightly to precious memories.
