Tilly truly lived with an open door/ open heart policy. When you entered her home, you were always greeted with KWRE on the AM radio or her delightful whistling or singing. She welcomed everyone with a warm smile, often providing food and shelter for anyone who was in need. Tilly spent many hours babysitting not only her family, but her friends and neighbors. She was a great copilot regardless of the length of the travel day. Tilly was a ravenous reader who devoured anything that contained print and then "Listen to this!" shared it with anyone who was near. She truly enjoyed what nature had to offer, often pointing out beauty in the most mundane items. She saw wonder in everything. Tilly was truly an individual, never riding a bicycle or driving a car (although she was always on the move). Many remember that she'd answer the telephone with her pocketbook on her arm. She was ready to go at a moments notice if needed. Tilly enjoyed sewing and quilting and displayed her talent while a member of the Quilting club at New Melle Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Many of her family members enjoy her quilts to this day.
