Mitzi Gribble, an instructional aide at Grant Elementary and resident of Columbia, MO, died on October 31
st at the age of 57 at the University Hospital while surrounded by her loved ones.
Mitzi is survived by her mother and stepfather, Beverly and Bob Wilkinson; her husband, Kurt Gribble; her children, Kevin Gribble, Katelyn Meyer, and Clark Gribble; her son-in-law, Jack Meyer; her daughter-in-law, Paige Gribble; her grandchildren, Blair and Bruce Gribble; her brother, Roger Rekate (Theresa Rekate); her sister, Vonda Warren (Todd Warren); her mother-in-law, Sally Gribble; her step-sister Dana (Raymond) Davis. She is predeceased by her father, Ronald Rekate; her grandparents, Vera and Clarence Mittler, and A.D. and Lillie Rekate; and her father-in-law, Val. Mitzi is also a dear aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.
Mitzi was born on January 21
st, 1963 to Ronald and Beverly Rekate. She graduated from the University of Missouri in May of 1985 with a degree in Journalism. On January 18, 1986 she married Kurt Gribble, an engineer and her college sweetheart. On November 4
th 1989, September 8, 1991 and July 19
th 1994 respectively, she welcomed her three children, who were the most important part of her life.
Mitzi was a dedicated wife and a loving mother. She enjoyed photography, hiking, and painting. She was deeply invested in the lives of the children she worked with, often going out of her way to provide them with love and support. She was a spiritual woman and involved in many church activities, including bible study and Sunday school. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4:30 pm on November 5
th at Woodcrest chapel on Nifong Blvd. in Columbia, MO; Pastor Joni Griffen will officiate. The service on Sunday, November 8th at Baue Funeral Home Cave Springs will be officiated by Ronnie Osborn.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Mitzi’s memory to
Boys & Girls Clubs of America or
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
