Morris Henry Wessel, of O Fallon, MO, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Lucille Wessel; cherished son of the late Arlie Sr., and Hilda Wessel; devoted father of Barbara Wessel, Richard (Patricia) Wessel, Linda Sommer and John (Carla) Wessel; loving grandfather of Nicole Sommer and Dena (Deshawn) Campbell; dear brother-in-law of Rosemary Wessel and Joan Wessel.
Morris is preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Wessel, Arlie Wessel Jr., Paul Wessel, Alan “Butch” Wessel, and Judy Wessel.
Morris proudly and honorably served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and later served during the Korea Military Action. While serving he traveled the world, sailing through the Panama Canal, also seeing Italy, Guam and France. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and trapshooting. Morris was a baseball player himself in his youth, becoming a loyal St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, never missing a game and cheering theme to many victories. In his later years he utilized his skills he obtained while in the Merchant Marines as a cook, baking breads of all kinds. Morris was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
