Nancy S. Malawey

Nancy Sue (Benich) Malawey passed away on January 29, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO. Growing up on The Hill, Nancy loved singing in the choir at St. Ambrose Church and fondly recounted memories of her friends and teachers at St. Joseph’s Academy. After retirement from Policyholders Services at General American; crafting, shopping and travelling passed the time, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was born to the late Thomas and Josephine (Buyan) Benich and sister to the late Jo Anne (Art) Meier.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, James Malawey, and survived by her children Gregory Hanneken (Debbie Bryan) of St. Louis, MO, Susan (Daniel) Edgar of Park Hills, MO, Lisa (Paul) Heath of Imperial, MO, John (Sharon, now deceased) Hanneken of Hillsboro, MO, Pam (Tom) Diederich of Lake St. Louis, MO, Stacy (Brad) McAllister of Pleasantville, NY, Mark Malawey of St. Charles, MO, and Elaine (Paul) Grellner of St. Charles, MO.

Survived also by her grandchildren Mark Schwartzkopf, Jessica (Tony) Diebold, Natoshia Hanneken (Matt Geist), Michael Heath, Jonathan (Sara) Hanneken, J Brittani Schwartzkopf, Alicia Heath (Damian Smith), Jillian (Garrett) Callahan, Ryan Heath (Christa Robertson), Isaac Edgar, Kacie (Chris) Derby, Courtney (Michael) Henderson, Tyler (Morgan) Diederich, Katie McCallister, Charlie McCallister, Jenna McCallister, Abby McCallister, Allie Malawey, Luke Mallawey, Nikki Grellner, Devin Grellner; Great Grandchildren Scarlett, Rene, Benjamin, Isabella, Hailey, Haiden, Jadyn, Malakai, Harlin, Elizabeth, Alaya, Abagail, Timmy, Destin, William, Gavin, Anthony, Reagan, Landon, Harper, Matthew and Luke.

To the many souls that loved, cared for and helped Nancy throughout her life, we pray God blesses you as richly as you blessed her and all of us with your kindness.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to the staff, resident friends and staff that became friends at Delmar Gardens, Tesson Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO. First to the Rehab facility, then Skilled Nursing and lastly those we hold so dear in Assisted Living. No less than stellar love and care were provided by all. This family will miss you.

Every time we hear the song you sang; we’ll be reminded of you. Every meal you made that was our favorite; we’ll think of you. Every povitica made at Christmas will be in honor of you. In every heart you touched your legacy lives on.

We will miss so many of you celebrating Nancy’s life with us.  Services will be held at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, MO. However, due to the pandemic services are private.
