So did the friendship. Mary and Emma were best friends for close to 60 years. Mary married Ralph Samuel Beebe on August 4, 1935 in St. Charles, Missouri. Mary worked numerous jobs in her lifetime starting with chores on her parents' farm in Oklahoma. She worked as a domestic, babysitter and sales woman for family who owned a store when she first moved to St. Charles. She worked in the hot lunch program at McKinley School and as a night cleaning lady as her family grew. But, what she wanted to be remembered for was her work as a certified nurse's aid at Charlevoix Nursing Home and as a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Charles First Assembly of God Church of more than 70 years. She was active in the Women's Ministries and Good Timers. She was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and believed in service to her fellow man. She was active in distributing food, clothing and love to those who needed it. She visited her shut-ins, neighbors and nursing homes regularly when she was able. She is survived by four sons; Gerald and his wife Joyce of Lathrop, Missouri; David and the late Marie of Great Bend, Kansas; Darrill and his wife Connie of Arlington, Texas; Richard of St. Charles, Missouri; a daughter, Nancy Roman and her husband Mark of Redford, Michigan; two sisters, Eva Noel and Elva Mae McQuillen, both of California; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. May was the matriarch of her family, keeping track of where everyone was and what they were doing through letters and phone calls. She created photo albums for her grandchildren and distributed pictures often. She wanted us to know each other and stay in touch. She sent birthday cards to all of her children, grand-children and great-grand children while she as able. She prayed for each one of us by name everyday. She is the glue that binds us together. Her greatest gifts to her family are her faith, love and her strong spirit. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, both of her husbands, three sisters, five brothers, one daughter-in-law, one grandson and one grandson-in-law.
