Norma Smith

Norma L. Smith (nee Graham) of Lake St. Louis, MO., Went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2013. Beloved wife of Charles Smith, former Athletic Director and Coach of UMSL.  They met while he was in the Navy and were married for 66 years. Dear daughter of the late Douglas and Mabel Graham. Loving sister and sister-in-law of the late Roy and Freda Graham, Red and Betty Graham, Bonny and the late Bob Jackson and Ron and Joan Graham and sister-in-law to Laura Downey.  She loved and enjoyed all her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A St. Louis native, she received her masters degree in education from UMSL.  She taught gifted students and retired from elementary teaching in the JenningsSchool District after many years.  She truly enjoyed her work and the children that she taught through the years.
Norma was a wonderful and talented artist.  She painted in oils and produced many beautiful works of nature and landscapes.  She cherished the time she spent working on her craft.  She also had a passion for nature, gardening, puzzles and loved having conversations about many interesting things.
Her greatest pleasure was being with her husband Chuck.  She went to all of Chuck's basketball games and was very supportive of his career as a coach.  They loved traveling and spending time with their many wonderful friends through the years.
Her strong yet loving and vivacious personality lives on & she will be greatly missed.
Thanks to the staff at Parkside Retirement Center for their care and a very special thanks to Bonny Jackson, Norma's loving Sister, for her selfless devotion in providing many years of care and companionship to Norma.
