Opal Faye Boyd (nee Hill) 
August 13, 1941 - February 13, 2024 
 
Opal passed away peacefully with family by her side at Progress West Hospital-O’Fallon on February 13, 2024. 
 
She was born August 13,1941 to the late Robert James and Lillian Opal Hill in Joplin, MO. Opal was married Paul L. Boyd for 52 years who preceded her in death; beloved mother of Julie (James) Hicks, JuDee (Woodrow) Wilson, Larry (Joi) Boyd, the late Roberta (Curt) Zimmermann, Robert (Bonnie) Boyd. Beloved sister of the late Robert James Hill, Jr. Survived by grandchildren Carl (Heather) Peterson, Evan Hicks, Patrick (Jessica) Peterson, Matthew (Taryn) Wilson, Steven Peterson, Melissa (Tyler) Friedrich and Spencer Boyd. Great-Grandchildren Kayla and Joey Peterson; Tatum and Maci Wilson; Avery, Bailey and Riley Hicks; Hayden Peterson; Weston, Werner and Walker Peterson. 
 
Opal loved her children, grand-children and great-grand children immensely. Christmas was always a big deal at the Boyd house. She was especially proud of her husband, brother and grandson who served in the military, her grandson a first responder and her grandson in NASCAR. Her granddaughter was always her little “Rosebud.” 
 
She loved game shows, garage sales, her St Louis Cardinals, NASCAR and playing bingo. She will be missed by many extended family members and friends.
