Palmer J. Dieckmann

October 5, 1919 — December 12, 2002

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or St. Joseph Carmelite Home. Palmer J. Dieckmann, St. Charles, MO, December 12, 2002 age 83. Dear husband of Eva M. Dieckmann; dear father of Elizabeth Shoemaker (Phillip), Patricia Hittler (Louis) and Linda Hale; dear brother of Dorothy Robinson, the late Orvin Dieckmann, Elva Harris, Evelyn Bryant and Olivia Croxford; dear grandfather of Megan Shoe-maker. Mr. Dieckmann was a volunteer for The American Red Cross and an active member of St. John United Church of Christ St. Charles. I DO NOT GO ALONE If DEATH should becon me with outstetched hand And whisper softly of ''AN UNKNOWN LAND'', I shall not be afraid to go, for though the path I do not know, I take DEATH'S HAND without a fear, For He who safely brought me here Will also take me safely back, And though in many things I lack, He will not let me go alone Into the ''VALLEY THAT'S UNKNOWN''... So I reach out and take DEATH'S HAND And journey to the ''PROMISED HAND''! SAFELY HOME I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh, but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth- You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
