Patricia Lucille Mannion (née Prost) was called home on December 13, 2024. She will be forever reunited with her beloved late husband, William “Bill” Mannion.
She was known as “Pat” by her many friends, “Mom” by her children, and “Grandma” by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pat is predeceased by her parents Leo and Alberta (née Naumann) Prost, as well as her siblings: Betty (Richard) Bertocki, Bill Prost, Jim (Joan) Prost, and Bob Prost. She dearly missed them all. Pat is survived by Bob’s wife, Roberta Prost. Also, Pat was a loving sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and friend.
Pat was born and raised in north St. Louis. She graduated from DeAndreis High School in 1956. Pat and Bill raised their family in Spanish Lake for twenty years before settling down in St. Charles. Pat was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Immaculate Conception Dardenne Parish, where she was active in the “Over 50 Club”.
Pat met her husband Bill when they were young. She fell for him the day she sat on her front porch, and he tussled her hair. When Pat was a teenager, Bill returned from the army, and he greeted her from across the street by exclaiming, “Hiya doll!”. He never had a chance. Her quick wit, warm smile and stunning beauty were no match for him. Pat and Bill were married for over 66 years, until Bill passed earlier this year.
They welcomed, raised and were integral parts of the lives of their four children, Kathleen Smith, Sharon (Tim) Gearin, Marty (Lisa) Mannion, and Kevin Mannion. They were at her side during her long, love-filled life. Pat was especially proud of her 10 grandchildren: James (Christie Johnson) Smith, Tim (Austin) Hake, Matt (Danielle) Gearin, Ryan Gearin, Lori (Jordan) Tipton, Matt (Edward Strode) Mannion , Nick (Clare) Gearin, Dan Mannion , Katie Gearin and Emily Mannion. She adored and was adored by her great-grandchildren: Madeline Hake, Alexander Hake, Lyla Gearin, Nolan Tipton, Olivia Gearin, Luke Gearin, and Avery Tipton.
Pat loved all family gatherings, but especially Christmas. She was famous for decorating her house with Christmas villages and trees, wearing festive sweater vests, and making delicious cookies. Bill shared–and was grateful for– her lifelong love of sweets.
Pat will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her, but especially by her family. She will forever be remembered and honored as an incredible woman who lived her faith and went to the ends of the earth for her family.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal." - Irish Proverb Memorials may be made in Pat's name to the St. Louis Alzheimer's Association.
